GoldPublished:

Gold's Week: 3.6% drop on Friday, close near $3,876 (Weekly wrap 31 Oct 2026)

क्या हुआ

On Friday 30 Oct 2026, gold's decline deepened further as the US session drew to a close. According to Trading Economics, spot gold ended the day near $3,875.8 per ounce, down about 3.6% from the previous day (around $4,021); this is the lowest level since October 2025. In last night's 9:30 PM (IST) post, gold was around $3,898, meaning the slide continued even after that.

Weekly and monthly tally (through Friday close):
• COMEX gold futures (Yahoo Finance data): Last Friday $4,007.9 → This Friday $3,884.9, down about 3.1% for the week
• Spot gold: Down about 7.2% over the past month (Trading Economics)
• Gold is now about 31% below the January 2026 all-time high (around $5,608, Trading Economics)
• Silver: Fell about 6.2% on Friday to approximately $48.9; down about 19% over the past month

Reasons according to Trading Economics: High US inflation data (September PCE at 3.6% annually) and elevated energy prices fueling expectations that US rates will stay higher for longer; heavy selling in tech shares (Nasdaq down about 3.5% on Friday), which according to Trading Economics' assessment may have triggered forced selling and margin calls; and weak physical gold demand in Asia.

इसका मतलब

The benefit of a weekly wrap: It shows the full picture away from the noise of daily movements. This week's story in one line: Expectations of rates staying higher + stock market selloff = pressure on gold.

Key learning: Gold is often called a "safe haven," yet it can fall on fearful days because investors facing losses sell even the assets where they previously had profits to raise cash. Silver typically moves more sharply than gold (both up and down), so its risk is also higher. The gold market remains closed over the weekend, and on Monday the price can open different from Friday's close (gap). This is for understanding only, not buy/sell advice.
