Gold falls nearly 3% to around $3,900, one-year low (30 Oct 2026)
क्या हुआ
On the night of 30 Oct 2026 (Friday), gold's decline accelerated further. According to Trading Economics, around 9:30 PM (IST), spot gold was at approximately $3,898 per ounce, down about 3.1% from the previous day; this is the lowest level since October 2025. As per Yahoo Finance data, COMEX gold futures were around $3,908 (previous close $4,031, day's low around $3,901). Silver futures also fell about 5.5% to approximately $49.3. Over the past month, gold is down about 6.7%. In this evening's 5 PM post, gold was around $3,972.
According to Trading Economics, the reasons: Rising energy prices and stubborn inflation strengthened expectations that US interest rates will remain high for an extended period (citing CME FedWatch, the market is pricing in approximately 72% probability of a Fed rate hike in December). Additionally, there was heavy selling in tech shares, which according to Trading Economics' assessment, may have led to forced selling and margin calls in markets. Physical gold demand in Asia also remained weak.
इसका मतलब
Gold moving from above $4,000 to around $3,900 in a single day is significant volatility. Gold does not pay any interest, so when the market believes rates will stay high for a long time, pressure builds on gold.
What is a margin call: When a leveraged position goes into loss and the margin in the account falls short, additional funds must be deposited or the position gets closed. At such times, people sell other assets, like gold, to raise cash, which is why even gold, often considered a "safe haven," sometimes falls. On such days, spreads can widen and slippage can be higher. This is for understanding purposes, not buy/sell advice.
