On 29 Oct 2026, the European Central Bank (ECB) kept all three key rates unchanged: deposit facility at 2.50%, main refinancing at 2.65% and marginal lending at 2.90%. The statement noted that rising energy prices are creating both inflation risk and growth risk.
In the press conference, President Christine Lagarde mentioned that a rate hike was also discussed today. According to reports, the market is pricing in more than 80% probability of a hike in December. Lagarde also said she wants to leave the ECB before her term ends. EUR/USD first fell to its weakest level since May 2025, then recovered and was trading around 1.1196 on 30 Oct.
