Eurozone GDP grows 0.4%, Italy inflation jumps to 5.4%

क्या हुआ

On 30 Oct 2026, Eurostat's preliminary flash estimate showed euro area GDP grew 0.4% in the July–September quarter (Q3) compared with the previous quarter. The market forecast (TradingView calendar consensus) was 0.2%, and growth in Q2 was 0.6%. Year on year, growth was 1.3%. Ireland (+5.5%) led, Spain grew 0.6%, Germany 0.2%, Italy 0.0%, and France's GDP shrank 0.1%.

Early inflation figures released the same day also came in higher: according to ISTAT, Italy's October inflation was 5.4% (4.2% in September, forecast 4.6%), the highest since September 2023, driven largely by energy prices. According to INSEE, France's inflation was 3.4% (forecast 3.2%). According to Trading Economics, EUR/USD was near 1.12, up about 0.2%.

इसका मतलब

GDP = the total value of goods and services an economy produces. When both growth and inflation come in above forecasts, pressure grows on the central bank (here the ECB) to keep inflation in check, and the euro often moves on such data. The ECB held rates on 29 Oct and said a hike had been discussed, so these numbers are being watched closely.

Lesson: even when the euro area total looks good, countries can differ a lot; this time Ireland's +5.5% pulled the average up while France's economy shrank. A flash estimate is based on incomplete data and can be revised later. This is for understanding only, not buy/sell advice.
