Binance hack: withdrawals paused, reports of billions drained
क्या हुआ
On 29 Oct 2026 Binance confirmed a security incident and temporarily paused withdrawals on multiple networks. Binance says user funds are safe. Founder CZ said it appeared Binance had been hacked and that he expects user funds to be fully covered.
Crypto watchers estimate at least $2B was drained from hot wallets; some estimates go as high as $5.7B (these are unconfirmed, and the incident may still be ongoing). According to reports, Tether froze about $1.56B and Circle about $800M of linked funds. If losses in the billions are confirmed, it would be among the largest crypto hacks ever (the 2025 Bybit hack was $1.4B).
इसका मतलब
What a hot wallet is: the exchange wallet that stays connected to the internet so deposits and withdrawals can happen instantly. That is also why it is the easiest target for hackers. Most funds are usually kept in a "cold wallet" (offline).
Why exchanges pause withdrawals: to stop more money leaving, investigate, and close the hole that was used. It is a standard safety step; on its own it does not mean all the money is gone.
Lesson: don't keep all your funds on any one exchange, however big it is. And be careful: at times like this, scam links and messages claiming a "refund" or "compensation" spread fast. Trust only the official website/app, and never enter a password or seed phrase through a link. This is for understanding, not buy/sell advice.
